Konusunu, Jules Verne’in ünlü romanı Dünyanın Merkezine Yolculuk’tan alan filmin başrollerinde Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutcherson ve Anita Briem var. Journey 3D, Nasa teknolojisi ile üretilen ve üç boyutlu sinemaya yepyeni bir soluk getiren Dijital 3D tekniği kullanılarak, canlı oyuncular ile çekilmiş, animasyon olmayan ilk film olma özelliğini taşıyor.
Film, maceraperest bir bilimadamı olan amcası (Fraser) ile, İzlanda’ya giden Sean (Hutcherson), burada onlara rehberlik eden Hannah’nın (Briem), tesadüfen gizli güzellikler ve tehlikelerle dolu bambaşka bir dünya keşfetmeleriin konu alıyor.
